VII International Workshop of Africanisms in the Caribbean "Ortiz-Lachatañeré"
– – –
April 8 to 11, 2003
"Fernando Ortiz" African Cultural Center, "Rómulo Lachatañeré" Afro-Caribbean Chair of Studies, the UNESCO Afro-Ibero-American Chair of Studies of the University of Alcalá, Heredia Theatre, University of Oriente, Applied Linguistics Center as part of the Territorial Delegation of Science Technology and Environment Ministry (CITMA), CICIBA (International Center of Bantu Civilization) call the VII International Workshop of Africanisms in the Caribbean "'Ortiz-Lachatañeré", to be held on April 8 to 11, 2003 with the objective of creating a space of approach where we value the scientific work in the disciplines of the Social Sciences to which Fernando Ortiz and Rómulo Lachatañeré devoted their work.
We invite specialists on arts, literature, linguistics, philosophy, religion, music and dance to share criteria and deepen on each theme in an open dialogue.
This edition will be devoted to the studies on bantuity. The Bantu diaspora in America and the Caribbean was object of study of both researchers, and the scientific approach to Bantu presence in our countries is relevant nowadays. It should also be taken into account the fact that studies on ethnic inquiry conducted in our country have proved, as one of their results, that the majority of ethnic groups integrating slaves' endowments were Bantu.
